Havens Trading Company is a 2004 start-up. My experience in Indian Country, however, can be documented. I have a Masters Degree from the University of Arizona in American Indian Studies, teach Native American Religion at Phoenix College in Phoenix, Arizona, and worked in the Hopi Tribal Government as the Chief of Staff to former Chairman of the Tribe, Ferrell Secakuku, during 1996 and 1997.

In this capacity, I have developed many relationships with Hopi artists and worked closely with the Tribe’s Cultural Preservation Office, developing additional sensitivity for and understanding of the culture and traditions of the Hopi people.

Havens Trading Company will only purchase legitimate, quality, culturally relevant, American Indian art and crafts directly from the artists for retail sale to collectors and enthusiasts of American Indian arts.

I will make several buying trips during the year throughout the Southwest and Northwest Coast to meet new artists as well as to make additional purchases from artists with whom the Company already has a relationship.

The Company is making its start by focusing primarily on American Indian artists in the Southwest, particularly with artists from the Hopi Tribe in North-Central Arizona, because the owner/operator is most familiar with this region and with Hopi artists in particular.
